Logbar Ring

Todays post I will be discussing the Logbar Ring. This Bluetooth device will make you feel like you are a wizard when using it. I will start the post off with a quote. “We've seen interactive rings that receive alerts from your smartphone and even rings that will give you the current time in a unique way, but a new ring leapfrogs the rest by acting as a full-on control mechanism. On its exterior, Logbar's Ring device looks like nothing more than a silver ring, but packed inside the device are electronics that allow it to recognize your finger gestures and control any number of devices.”1

Although this device does look very entertaining, this does not seem like a ring that would in any way be comfortable to wear. As well as the obvious downside is the device is not waterproof, which I know for a fact if I had one of these I would forget to take it off the first shower I had.

By recognizing finger gestures, Ring allows the wearer to write text messages by simply drawing in the air. The same dynamic allows the wearer to access apps by drawing designated shapes in the air. For example, drawing a music note could access your music player, while drawing an envelope shape would allow you to access your email.2 This all sounds fun but it also sounds like a waste of time when you can just tap your screen.

The one question I was thinking about when reading this article, is it worth the money or is just another device that will not make it to major markets?

To conclude this blog post I will add a link to a Logbar Ring video that talks more about the ring in great detail. Thank you for reading and Stay tuned for more posts about the new technology that would one day be the norm.

Petcube

Here is a post I am sure all you crazed cat and dog lovers out there will like. “Long distance relationships rarely work out. It goes with people, the same applies to pets. When you have that special bond with your cat or dog it's heartbreaking to lose touch with them. Petcube brings people closer to their furry loved ones. As long as there are some bars on your smartphone you can check on your pet from any part of the globe.”1

Just when you think you have seen it all. But wait it gets even weirder. “Through the built-in wide angle camera you can see your pet. You can have a conversation with her using speakers and microphone. But Petcube goes much further. It gives you a controlled laser pointer to bring the fun times with your pet to a whole new level. It's quite simple: we love pets and pets love lasers. And us, of course. It's not all fun and games though. Petcube is a perfect tool to keep your buddy fit in case you don't have enough time for long walks and special training.2

Okay so first off, how lazy must one be to have to go out and buy a little cube to be able to train your pet and give it exercises to keep fit? If you do not have the time of the day to take your dog out for a walk, you should not have a dog. This device would never be able to train a pet, let alone no pet will have the mindset to sit and listen to a little cube.

Personally, this seems like one big waste of money, and if you truly do believe this is a good product, than you should not own a pet. No matter the scenario no pet should be left for such a long time that you think a little cube could be a suitable caretaker for the animal.

Also, they are claiming that the Petcube is a clean and simple design, yet stylish and practical… because your pet is not going to give it the time of day otherwise.

To conclude this blog post I will add a video that will provide more information on the Petcube, Thank you for reading and Stay tuned for more posts about the new technology that would one day be the norm.

Robot Hotel

What I will be posting about today may shock some of you, as it did when I just got a glimpse of the headline. “What if you could check into a hotel, have your luggage carried to your room and order a coffee — all with help from a team of robots?”1 That is exactly what’s happening in Japan right now.

A new hotel at a theme park in Nagasaki, Japan, hopes to make that dream a reality. The Henn-na Hotel (whose name means "strange hotel") will be partially staffed by androids that work as reception attendants, robot waiters, cleaning staff and a cloakroom attendant”2 This is definitely something that I would want to check out, but at the same time it seems extremely eerie.

Many of these robots will portray a young Japanese woman and will be able to “speak Japanese, Chinese, Korean and English, make hand gestures, and pull off the somewhat creepy feat of mimicking eye movements.”3

Since the costs of workers is down a significant amount, this hotel is able to charge much lower rates than the other hotels in and surrounding the theme park, averaging at $60 US per night, rather than the regular $170-255 US. If the success of this hotel meets expectations another may open up for business in just a year! The one major thought on my mind when reading this is, will this extraordinary idea of a hotel make its way into western civilization or is it just a crazy idea that won’t go anywhere. Considering the drastic drops in room rates, and all the jobs it would affect it is hard to say whether or not we will see this in Canada.

To conclude this blog post I will add a video that will provide more information on the
Henn-na Hotel, Thank you for reading and Stay tuned for more posts about the new technology that would one day be the norm.

3Doodler

This device I will be blogging about today is the revolutionary 3Doodler 2.0. For those of you who don’t know what this is by the end of this post I am sure you’ll be saving up to order one. “When we first launched 3Doodler we asked the world to imagine a pen that you could literally lift off the page to create real three dimensional objects; a pen that put the power of a 3D printer in the palm of your hand. Two years later, we’ve made the world’s best 3D printing pen even better, with a new version that's slimmer, lighter, quieter and even easier to use.1

Over 130,000 3Doodlers have been purchased since coming to the market and there are over 10,000 backers for the 3Doodler 2.0 campaign. One big question that came to my mind when looking through the kickstarter page, is what are people creating with these? Well the users of 3Doodler upload photos on social media with the hashtag #WhatWillYouCreate these photos can be seen on 3Doodlers website in the community section, which I highly recommend taking a look at because there is to many amazing creations to post on this blog.

So what’s the big difference between the original 3Doodler and the 3Doodler 2.0? Quite a lot actually, “Completely redesigned from top to bottom, 3Doodler 2.0 is the result of over two years of research and development, and feedback from thousands of users. Our aim? To give you the best 3Doodling experience ever! The result? A smaller, more ergonomic, and even more kick-ass 3D pen. We've also housed the new 3Doodler in a sleek metallic casing, so that it's jaw-droppingly beautiful and feels great in your hands.2 As well as a bunch of new specs and features including;

  • A fully re-engineered drive system
  • New nozzle design
  • Enhanced and quieter airflow
  • Dual speed control
  • Double-click function for continuous flow
  • Manual temperature optimization
  • More efficient and stable heating
  • Drastically reduced power consumption

To conclude this blog post I will add a video introducing the 3Doodler 2.0, that talks more about the worlds best 3D pen, and shows the endless possibilities it can achieve. Thank you for reading and Stay tuned for more posts about the new technology that would one day be the norm.
