Mobility of Tomorrow

Hello all,

For my first post on the New Technology blog, I will be writing about the Mercedes-Benz F015. Just look at the inside of this car.

The car is growing beyond its role as a mere means of transport and will ultimately become a mobile living space.1 Imagine the luxury of being able to have a car that drives on its own. What could you do with all the extra time on your hands, when they’re not on the steering wheel? Catch up on some work on the drive to the office, catch up on some missed sleep, or have an actual face-to-face conversation with anyone in your car. The opportunities are endless and all are in your favour.

This innovative four-seater is a forerunner of a mobility revolution, and this is immediately apparent from its futuristic appearance. Sensuousness and clarity, the core elements of the Mercedes-Benz design philosophy, combine to create a unique, progressive aesthetic appeal.2 It is no surprise that when you look at this car, you can’t help but to think this is the future.

This looks just like something taken out of a sci-fi movie. Now that it is becoming a reality, the question is, will people trust this car? Or will people rather just drive themselves around forever. Truthfully I believe if all these cars were on the road there would never be an accident again. It is 2015, and there are so many distractions for drivers nowadays. Whether it is your phone or just looking for something in the car. I personally have been in a car accident and what caused it? The driver was distracted reaching for a CD. This would never be a problem with the F015 because you have the ability to do everything and just let the car be the one keeping an eye on the road.

To conclude my first post I will add a link to an informative video about the world premiere of the F015 for those of you who would like to learn more about this wonderful piece of technology. Stay tuned for more posts about the new technology that would one day be the norm.
